Zirconiated Tungsten Electrode (WZ8) — White TIG Tungsten Electrode
Zirconiated tungsten electrode WZ8 (white tip) contains 0.8% zirconium oxide. It holds a stable rounded ball tip, resists tungsten contamination of the weld, and handles high current on AC better than pure tungsten.
Ground & cleaned · diameter tolerance h7 · MOQ 100 pcs, mixed sizes accepted
Order by type designation and standard. Confirm tip marking and packaging with your quotation.

Recommended welding current by diameter is being finalized by our engineers and is provided on request — ask for the reference chart with your inquiry so you receive verified values rather than generic estimates.
Main features
- Maintains a stable, rounded ball tip on AC
- High current capacity on AC welding
- Good resistance to weld contamination
- Tough tip with less spitting than pure tungsten
Recommended applications
Aluminium and magnesium alloys on AC, especially at higher currents — boat building, tank fabrication, castings repair and other work where clean aluminium welds matter. Also usable on DC where contamination resistance is valued.

Frequently asked questions
When should I use WZ8 instead of WP?
Choose WZ8 when AC current is high or when weld cleanliness is critical — it keeps its ball shape longer and spits less than pure tungsten.
What color is the WZ8 tip?
White under ISO 6848. Our electrodes carry the color code at the tip end, so mixed boxes stay easy to sort on the shop floor.
Is WZ8 radioactive?
No. Zirconium oxide is not radioactive — WZ8 is a safe choice where thoriated electrodes are restricted.
